I met Steve yesterday and we went to a football match. He has a partner - I haven't met her, only seen her facebook page. She looks a lovely person and he agrees that she is, very loving, kind and so on, he is very fond of her but she is not quite what he wanted in a woman.

About two years ago he told me he had been seeing someone else behind his girlfriend's back, an American woman who is also very attractive but known as a difficult person (he told me this. I've never met her. He told me quite a lot about her). He asked my opinion of her and I gave it, which wasn't favourable, and said that she was probably after his money (he is quite wealthy). 

When he was on holiday with his partner he received a message from the other woman who told him she was going for a weekend with a businessman who was loaded and they were doing this, that, going on the Orient Express and so on. He admitted he was jealous, so he bought the other woman an engagement ring costing £10,000 and a house. He works between the USA and the UK so he was able to get away with it.He was then going to tell his partner it was over. However the American girl told him she didn't think it was going to work between them, kept the house and kept the ring. 

He was warned by all his friends he told about it, I was restrained, but I said that this woman was not the kind of person I would want as a friend and he should tread carefully. She was clearly a gold digger. 

I am shaking my head in disbelief, though others have told him far worse than I have, which is just that I think he was a damned fool. His "real" partner doesn't know about any of this. He's in touch with the American girl's brother as friends, but, well, I really don't know what to think.

Other than he attracted it all!
