So my contract ended 4 months ago and I have been without a job. Another team at my old company interviewed me but the salary they offered was way too low. She told me that HR cannot increase my salary anymore so I rejected the offer. I tried applying and interviewing for other jobs with no luck. My old boss called me up and said she wanted me back. I interviewed with her and she said she'd have the offer letter ready by today. Considering HR makes salaries very low at my company, I was prepared to negotiate, but I was willing to take any salary offered because I need a job. I even started posting ads on Craigslist offering to tutor kids on the side for some extra savings. Today my boss emailed me and offered me something higher than I would have even negotiated. Crazy how things worked out.

The real secret though, was gratitude and detachment. I was thankful for my job, the EI payments I was receiving, thankful to have a great boss. I detached because I was prepared to find other places for supplemental income as well.
