To manifest or completely let go?

Hi everyone,
I was recently seeing a guy that I really really liked. We are both fairly young (in our early twenties) and he really likes to drink and party. He invited me to a cabin with him and he ended up getting blacked. He was really hurtful to me and made me leave, even though i didn't do anything wrong. He apologized the next morning, explained that he's really struggling and needs help with his drinking. I said that I was there if he needed anything and that I hoped we could reconnect when he's able to work on himself. He told me I didn't understand that he needed space, even though I did... it was just hard to end the conversation knowing that I wouldn't hear from him. He said "I know you're trying to help but you're making it worse." We argued about this and he ended up blocking me after telling me he'd get a restraining order on me if I contacted him again. I was really worried about how he was acting (it was so unlike him) so I reached out to his family member and told her what happened. She talked to him and told me "He's not happy with you..." I feel like I ruined my chance forever, and all I wanted to do was help him because I could see he was hurting.
When he was sober, he was very sweet and we got along really really well. I was amazing at how much we had in common and how well we got along. Until I saw that side of him. I would be interested in a relationship later in life if he got help, but I'm not sure if that will happen. Should I try to manifest him back or completely let go?
Any advice would be nice.... xo

Re: To manifest or completely let go?

Addiction is a nasty thing. Work on yourself. If you were totally in alignment, you wouldn't be questioning this. It's fine to love an addict, but you have to take care of yourself and distance yourself. It doesn't matter how sweet he is sober; he obviously has a problem. Visualize him getting help and being well. Until he has, let it go.

Re: To manifest or completely let go?

Speaking as the ex wife of an alcoholic this wont be an isolated incident - he obviously has a drink problem and personal issues and it will only get worse not better - why put yourself through this? I'd personally let go and move on .. you're worth more, love yourself and allow yourself the opportunity to have a healthy relationship with someone who deserves your love.

I was very unhappy in my 10 year marriage and the worst part was feeling trapped, loving a man who totally disrespected me, giving him chance after chance to sort himself out, in the end I was a shell of my former self - too scared to hold on, too scared to let go and despite my loyalty and the effort I made to try and make our relationship work he totally betrayed me. ive seen it again and again with friends whos partners have drink problemsand other addictios - they're the only ones who count, its just not worth the heart ache.

I have now been left with a lot of personal baggage (anxiety, trust issues etc) which have impacted on my current relationship with the love of my life, thankfully he's patient and understanding and i know we will get through this. I'm thankful for my son that came out of the marriage but other than that I feel like ive lost 10 years of my life.

I wish you well, whichever decision you make x

Re: To manifest or completely let go?

A lady from work was in your position when she was 18. She married the guy who spent the next 30 years drinking. She put up with it and worked to keep both of them. He packed in work to stay home and drink. He's just died from liver failure and she's wasted her life.

If I were in your position I'd think there are plenty more fish in the sea without these issues. Don't make his issue yours.
