Finding myself

Hi guys, I've noticed that a lot of people who were successful with their love said that you have to get you back first and focus on you. My question is how? I feel like I spend so much time on this that I don't know my hobbies anymore. So many people say it makes it faster to focus on you but I don't know where to start.

Re: Finding myself

What would you do, if you wouldn't know about LoA? You would try to move on, so that it won't hurt more than necessary. You would know that you have to live your life without the person. Before I knew about LoA, it was much easier for me to get over a breakup, because I thought I had to move on.
To attract someone back, you have to be over the breakup first. So my maybe not so popular view of things is that it would be much better to get over the breakup first..no visualising, no thinking obsessively, just healing and pampering yourself until you don't think about the person all day every day anymore, until you feel better, until you can think of the person without the feeling of something heavy hitting your stomach. But most people focus so intensely of attracting someone back, because it gives them the feeling of control. They think they can "do" something. But LoA isn't so much about doing, but about your state of consciousness. It doesn't help to visualise all day while feeling the absence of the person. It's even counter productive. If you decide to focus on yourself, the feeling of the absence of the person gets less and less and at some point, you can think and feel positively about them again and that is when things can start to shift.

"Self-abandonment. That is the secret. We have to abandon ourselves to the state, in our love for the state, and in so doing live the life of the state and no more our present state. And to make the state alive, one must become it."

Re: Finding myself

Thank you for such a comprehensive reply. So to do this focus, would you suggest trying new hobbies or distracting myself in the evenings instead of thinking about him? I find myself often watching TV to relax but still thinking of him in the evenings...

Re: Finding myself

Focus on the ultimate vision and purpose of your life and set your direction on that, taking action on what you know feels right, following what you're passionate about, growing in the areas you feel the need to grow in. What do you love to do? What kind of person do you want to be? What meaning and purpose do you want your life to have? What difference would you like to make? If today were the last day of your life, what would you want to do? What would you want to achieve and accomplish? What makes you feel closer to being truly yourself (or the ideal version of yourself)? And don't do it to get your ex back. Do it for yourself.
