You'll be surprised to read this from me!
Been looking at some really old YouTube clips of a band from years ago when I had a bit of a crush on one of them. They aren't famous and aren't together any more. I've been looking a bit of stuff up about them from the past, and only found old stuff, but some of the members (though not the one I liked) have been on a discussion board but it's quite old and very hit and miss. The board is still fairly active but it is just die hard fans chatting.
Now, I want to connect with this guy. I know the city he lives in - about an hour and a half train/car journey from me. Bear in mind I have never met him or seen them live. Don't know why I got the urge, but I do. Not sure what I expect to happen either, but I just get this impetus. Sounds bizarre, I know.
What would you do?

I'm sort of in the same situation. There's a guy on YouTube I like. I've followed him on Twitter and Instagram but he not followed me back.
I'm not sure if I should message him, not sure what to say.
He's also in a band. I like the band but never seen them live. He's the drummer. He lives about 10 minutes away from me

I've spoken to the bandmate a bit further since then, actually. I've actually found the guy's address out and made contact with a couple of people who know him. This came up randomly, funnily enough. Also found him on Facebook but have done nothing about that. So I know a lot more now than I did when I first posted.
