I do this every night before bed. It has to be done with meaning and feeling.
An example, I got into a fight with a coworker who I consider a friend. Probably did it for a short time, let it go and went to sleep. The next day she texted, we talked about it and we are on good terms again. It definitely does work.
My only tip is when you close your eyes let you mind bring the pictures of the people that you are going to practice on. I really find that it is balanced that way.
