THE KING AND HIS FRIEND
An African king had a close friend who had the habit of remarking "this
is good" about every occurrence in life no matter what it was. One day
the king and his friend were out hunting. The king's friend loaded a
gun and handed it to the king, but alas he loaded it wrong and when the
king fired it, his thumb was blown off.
"This is good!" exclaimed his friend.
The horrified and bleeding king was furious. "How can you say this is
good? This is obviously horrible!" he shouted.
The king put his friend in jail.
About a year later the king went hunting by himself. Cannibals captured
him and took him to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some
wood, set up a stake and bound him to it. As they came near to set fire
to the wood, they noticed that the king was missing a thumb. Being
superstitious, they never ate anyone who was less than whole. They
untied the king and sent him on his way.
Full of remorse the king rushed to the prison to release his friend.
"You were right, it WAS good" the king said.
The king told his friend how the missing thumb saved his life and
added, "I feel so sad that I locked you in jail. That was such a bad
thing to do"
"NO! this is good!" responded his delighted friend.
"Oh, how could that be good my friend, I did a terrible thing to you while I
owe you my
life".
"It is good" said his friend, "because if I wasn't in jail I would have been
hunting with you and they would have killed ME, for I am whole!"

The Farmer:
The farmer had only one horse, and one day the horse ran away. The neighbors came to console him over his terrible loss. The farmer said, "This is neither good nor bad, my thinking makes it so."
A month later, the horse came home--this time bringing with her two beautiful wild horses. The neighbors became excited at the farmer's good fortune. Such lovely strong horses! The farmer said "This is neither good nor bad, my thinking makes it so."
The farmer's son was thrown from one of the wild horses and broke his leg. All the neighbors were very distressed. Such bad luck! The farmer responded with "This is neither good nor bad, my thinking makes it so."
A war came, and every able-bodied man was conscripted and sent into battle. Only the farmer's son, because he had a broken leg, remained. The neighbors congratulated the farmer, to which he of course replied "This is neither good nor bad, my thinking makes it so."

haha. I like that a lot. Really puts everything that happens in your life into perspective

I have begun the practice of REFRAMING things in my life. I tend not to look into my past, because it is totally irelevant to me. But if something happens in my NOW that creates some negative momentum, I take the "story" and reframe it. And I do it from the perspective that everybody is in this world to experience love, peace, joy and happiness. We are all on that path. When somebody "misbehaves" it is actually a reflection of my own thoughts and vibration. By reframing the whole situation, I achieve 2 things:
1. A better perspective/higher vibration about the situation
2. A better, happier outcome for myself and any others involved.
Try it. If you don't like a situatuin, first look at how your thoughts created and contributed. Acknowledge this, but then let it go. And finally, re-create the situation exactly as you would have preferred it to have gone. π The people involved will truly come around eventually, because you really do create your reality!

Nice! Reframing is a wonderful idea!!

I am interested in this. How do I start reframing? Example at work, if everyone always comes late, should I imagine them coming to work early instead?Β
Offline
Yes, definitely. When you are about to lose it because your staff are late, time to reframe: "look at that, how impressive! My staff are all here before breakfast, smiles on and ready to produce! What a punctual, wonderfully enthusiastic group of colleagues I have! How lucky am I?" π Visualuse the scenario a few times, and just say thanks (but really feel it) for having such a great team that arrive so ON TIME! Have fun with it, exeriment, you'll be so surprised how people chsmge to meet your expectations.

Don't Give Up!
R. U. Darby tells the story of his uncle, who was caught by the βgold feverβ in the gold- rush days, and went west to dig and grow rich. He staked a claim and went to work with pick and shovel. After weeks of labour, he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface. Quietly, he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Williamsburg, Maryland, and told his relatives and a few neighbours of the βstrikeβ. They got together money for the needed machinery and had it shipped. The uncle and Darby went back to work the mine. The first car of ore was mined and shipped to a smelter. The returns proved they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would clear the debts. Then would come the big killing in profits. Down went the drills! Up went the hopes of Darby and Uncle! Then something happened β the vein of gold ore disappeared. They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there. They drilled on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again, all to no avail. Finally, they decided to quit. They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars, and took the train back home. Some βjunkβ men are dumb, but not this one! He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with βfault linesβ. His calculations showed that the vein would be found just three feet from where the Darbys had stopped drilling! That is exactly where the gold was found. Before success comes to most people, they are sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and perhaps some failure. When faced with defeat the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit . That is exactly what the majority of people do. And they will never find gold.

Thank you for this story!Β

This is an AWESOME story.Β And a prime example of how when you focus on a desire, that anything that comes your way is good and in line with that desire no matter what it appears like.Β We don't always understand these things, but we need to trust they are working in harmony with our ideal.Β
Great example in this story!
