We get what we focus on...but don't think about it!

I'm having trouble understanding detatchment and letting go still. Especially since I just listened to a podcast that says don't stop thinking about your desire, but in the same minute it said to set the intention and forget about it...but don't stop asking.

My brain feels fried. I like Veronica's videos on the topic and they make sense to me. But my brain goes into freak out mode when I hear messages like this.

So ideally, what this all means is: set the intention, trust that it's on its way and go about the day and do things to make us happy, give thanks for it at the end of the night, (lather, rinse, repeat)? I think this is more or less what the 25 day challenge tells us to do. Gives some structure. I like structure.

I think I just freak out when people say "forget about it"

Am I correct? Thoughts? Existing forum posts about the same topic? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Re: We get what we focus on...but don't think about it!

By letting go you should let go of the outcome. Not of your desire Β

For exemple, in the morning you visualize, at night too. But in the meantime you act "as if". So you don't think about the lack of your desire since you already have it!Β

You have to think about your desire as you already have it! If you keep asking the Universe for it, you're focusing on the fact that you don't have what you desire! Β

So ask for it one time. And then let go and trust! In the meantime visualize what you want so you'll attract more of it. I think what they mean about 'forget about it" is more about "forget the lack of it"Β

Is it a little clearer?Β

Re: We get what we focus on...but don't think about it!

Letting go was a concept that confused me so much to begin with. I view it now as getting out of my own way. I'm still a little guilty when it comes to doing this but I used to stress myself out wondering the same old thing over and over. "When's it going to manifest?", "How long is it going to take?", "How can it manifest because (insert resiting thought here)".

As Justine says, you only need to ask once. Once you ask, it's yours, it's law. Visualise your goals, then leave it up to the universe to bring your desires, that's not your job. Your job is to bring yourself into alignment and watch it manifest.

This is a good read if you've got time, this website has many helpful articles.Β http://www.applythelawofattraction.com/lettinggo-law-attraction/

Great answers, I like to add:

You can visualice when you like but do it because is feeling good, not because you need it or because you are aware of the outcome.

And don't think negative stuff about your desire, work in yourself, make your life better.

Re: We get what we focus on...but don't think about it!

I'm not sure where I heard this line, I watch a lot of LOA videos online, I'm just going to assume it was Abraham because they are usually full of witty lines like this one, think of it like ordering a meal at a restaurant. Your job is to place your order and wait for it to be brought to you, you wouldn't stop a waiter every chance you got and ask "I am getting that meal, right?" or "My meal is coming to me, isn't it?". Similar principles with the law of attraction, once you ask for your desire it's always yours, that is law. It's just a case of waiting and not resisting it and worrying about how you'll get it, when you'll get it.Β

Let it go as in don't let it be your main focus. Yes, you can have the desire, but do not bother focusing on the outcome, instead just go on about your day as if it already happened. Giving gratitude in the morning and in the night is a great way to feel as if you already have it.
