My love, the Social Worker, is turning 26 on Saturday. It's something I'm trying not to dwell on, allowing that thought to ebb and flow through me without affecting me very much, and I'm succeeding to a comfortable degree.

I was in Wal-Mart this afternoon purchasing post-it notes on the way back to the apartment so that I'll be able to post some affirmations and boost my thoughts when I have fewer distractions. I hadn't really been thinking of her, just about how nice the day had been and how excited I am to be off work for four days after just getting paid, when a very strong urge presented itself:

'You should buy her a birthday card.'

To which I responded:

'I should buy her a birthday card.'

I hadn't planned to, since the thought felt foolish before, but it felt...right. So I went to the Hallmark section and looked at the 'Her Birthday' section. There were plenty for sisters, daughters, moms, grandmothers, and wives, and I was losing hope that there was one just for 'the love of my life.' Out of nowhere, I actually saw one—just one—that summed up my thoughts for her completely, concisely, and beautifully. I read it a couple of times to make sure, and bought it. I'm going to pen a nice note for her and have it ready for when I see her next. It feels right and I have a lot of belief at the moment, so I wanted to share it with you all.

I'm also considering typing up a love letter. I like to write on my typewriter, but that's been stalled lately, so it may be a nice way to get back into some writing, jump-starting my creative juices and all.
