I don't want him anymore. I met this other guy I really liked and it really confused me, because I have ran after my ex for so long. But this guy had some qualities my ex hadn't and I realised that this qualities were important to me and that I could find someone better than my ex. Trust me, if I would still want my ex, I would work on him and not on the other guy. If I used the term "giving up" it wasn't really what I meant. English isn't my first language, so it can lead to some confusion sometimes.
