Does the universe "know" that certain people would be bad for us?

Would welcome thoughts on this, please!

At the end of last year I met a man at work who I really liked, not altogether sure if romantically or not, but as a person certainly.  He went away for Christmas and bought me a present back (after only having met him twice, once at his interview and once on his induction).  I was really surprised, and delighted! It was only something small but something he knew I would like from conversation.  I then sent him a short email over Christmas, just chatty about where he had been on the mini-break, and saying Happy new year, but he didn't reply.  I didn't say anything when we returned to work after Christmas and neither did he, but it was no big deal.  I then left my job to start a new one in early January, and from keeping in touch with former colleagues found out that so had he, as he didn't like it.

Then I emailed him again just to see what had happened (to be honest, the workplace was awful, and that was more my motivation than anything with him, to find out what a relative newbie thought).  He replied and said yes, it wasn't what he thought it would be and he was unhappy and the practices were rather suspect so he chose to leave.  It was only a short email but said things like nice to hear from you, hope the new job is going well, etc. Nothing much.  I acknowledged that, said that I would be organising a conference near where he lives later in the year, and haven't heard any more.  I thought perhaps it would be good to meet up for a chat, but I'd no real intentions of a romantic thing with him.

I am a very chatty outgoing person, and often do keep in touch with people (selectively) but sometimes they fizzle.

Anyway, the above is only scene-setting as an example.  My real question is this ............... in these kind of situations, does The Universe "know" that these people are not in alignment with us and therefore would not be good for us and keep us all away from each other?  That sometimes, the guy/girl you really like and want a relationship with is kinky in bed and you wouldn't like it, so you don't get together with him/her?  Or their morals don't align with yours?  I'm perfectly normal, certainly not perfect but not weird either.  So then is the "issue" with the other person?

And if that is the case, I would like to know the reason why, and how the Universe would let us know, rather than constantly wonder why Fred or Bill just stopped speaking to us!

I'm surprised nobody commented on this!

I don't really know the answer to your question, so what I write now is just my opinion.
I personally don't like the term "universe". In my world I'm the creator of my experience and I don't give any orders to the universe outside. It's just me. And I get what I focus on, what I feel and what I believe. There is nothing that protects you from other people. If "the universe" would work that way you had no bad experiences and therefore no contrast and no possibility to choose. I think it is all in your vibration and you can attract even people who are not good for you if you wish so.

It's a good answer and of course all we have is our own opinion.

I brought this up because of discussions like "it wasn't meant to be"  "there's someone better" around the corner, etc etc etc.

The universe is completely unbiased. What you always get is an absolute match with what you are vibrating. Nobody else is running the show, or choosing what is best for you. It's just you, and you.

If you imagine it in your mind..
Believe it in your heart..
Feel it in your soul..
You will hold it in your hand 💞
