I look at it like "he is punishing himself more than he is punishing me" because he thinks the thoughts you send, feels the emotions you feel and you are always on his mind.  Stubborn men may hold out contacting you but you are still getting to them.  To get the upper hand it is important that you use the technique, let it go and move forward.  

When you detach your expectation from the outcome you empower yourself.  If you worry constantly about him then he is still controlling you and your emotions.  If that is happening then you are just pretending to move forward."
