Re: Beautiful Christmas Story Share

Reading this brought so much Christmas cheer to me. Beautiful gift Cherished and so happy that you shared this gift with us all.

I do however have a question for Cherished or Salome. My best friend, her mother recently passed away due to a long battle with cancer. Recently meaning, before Thanksgiving this year. How do help her get through the holidays? Or just any advice you may have. I am not able to be with her for the holidays but she says she just wants to be alone.

First of all, Berryluv, my thoughts and best wishes go out to your friend at this time.

At first there is going to be a grieving process that she will go through (I certainly did), and I think that the best thing to do is to respect her need to be alone while that happens. But the thing I would say is that you need to offer to be there for her to give her a hug, or to call her on the phone and to listen to her if she needs to talk if you can't be thee in person. We are all different, but I found that I did need to talk to others about my mum, and what did help me a lot was to reminisce about the good times I shared with her. The trips to the shops when I was a kid, the holidays abroad we had together, the times when she and I would sit in front of the fire drinking tea and chatting about life. Remembering those good times did make me cry, and I did have the sense of "I will never be able to do those wonderful things with her again" - but at the same time, through the tears was sometimes a smile, and a big part of me felt good knowing that whatever happened, nothing can take those beautiful memories away. So if you do find your friend wants to spend time with you and she starts to feel bad, try directing her to the good moments she had with her mum during her life.

Really just offer to be there for her. This is a bit different to other situations with the loa, in that we really can't manifest our loved one back to life. But we can still maintain in our hearts those lovely memories and you can show your friend that her dear mum still is very much alive in her heart and always will be. <3

Re: Beautiful Christmas Story Share

Thank you Salome, you are very right. Even though her wanting to be alone in the house for Christmas concerns me, I can only respect her space. I do send her loving vibrations every chance I get. And reminice about her mom's cooking and funny things she would say. That's all I can do for now. Sometimes though I do feel a but guilty being soo happy and cheerful when my closest friend isn't. But I can't help it, I have always been that cheerful uplifting person who walks into a room and has everyone laughing.

There is a book by Anita Moorjani, and I started a thread about her which answers this question.  💜😊
