Question about the Emotional Guidance Scale?

I want to be clear I am interpreting this correctly. Β For example for each "step" - take pessimism as an example - would you feel and think pessimistic thoughts about the situation - say it's a relationship with someone and you would think things like it won't work out, why am I fooling myself, I think he's bound to go off with someone else, I'm not good enough etc.

OR

Thinking about what you want (ie a relationship with that specific person) doesn't feel good, and you therefore don't want to think about it - perhaps the idea of "looking in the shop window at stuff you can't afford" but you feel rubbish because you aren't with them either.Β 

The latter is more of an abstract concept than specific pessimistic thoughts about the situation.

Do I make sense? Β 

I want to be sure I understand this and am doing it correctly.
