Work related issues

Hi all

I've copied a post I made earlier this year (in blue below) which was in response to someone else's thread. ย I know I need to find ways to make myself feel better about work, but does anyone have any specific ideas? ย I've not had a very good induction, and I'm just about to start my 8th month there, and as it is a one-year contract I need to ensure it continues after the year as I have bills, mortgage etc. ย Not just that though, I want to succeed. ย It's a very difficult job to be fair, but I don't want to dwell on that. ย I must say I don't dislike the job but I've found myself unhappy because I am struggling, as I don't know what I am doing and managers and colleagues haven't (this is an observation not a grumble) given me much support and guidance. ย Only saying things like "Have you done X or Y?" when I didn't know I needed to do X or Y in the first place?

So - what would I think about to make myself feel better and my vibration rise? ย If I know what I am doing, and I know I am supported, I know I would be a zillion percent happier at work.ย

- Look at how well I have coped against the odds?
- How I have gone in day after day when I have felt like staying under the duvet?
- Showing commitment by staying late and working lunches to make time up that I have lost as I am slower at doing all the tasks as I have to find out what to do and how to do it ย before I can, er, do it?
- What qualities I have brought, character strengths etc? (I find this one hard)ย

I'm sorry, I am hijacking this thread I know, but this has happened to me recently not in a relationship but in a job. I have got the job I wanted in the place I wanted but am plagued with insecurities that I am making a pig mess of it. ย I have a lot to learn and I am making mistakes as I go along, but trying to learn from them. I have had very bad experiences in some jobs in the past, and even though I got the job I wanted, all that ancient fear is resurfacing.

I now know it is about me and my fear from the past, not about the work.

Be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons.

Re: Work related issues

It's hard to impossible to tell you what you should think, because we don't have your guiding system. You can tell about every thought, if it feels better or worse, so listen to your feelings. I really like some of the processes in Ask and it is given. Maybe look through the book and try a process that resonnates with you? And I think a very good thing that can always help you, regardless of the topic, is relax. Don't take it so seriously. Don't think now about what could happen in 4 months. You can still worry in 4 months, but maybe it's not even necessary and you ruin your precious Now with worrysome thoughts.
