Use this technique: acknowledge the negative thought, and every time you realize that you are thinking about it, switch that thought with the image of your end result. Close your eyes and breathe. The image of your final result should be one that provoques you a deep emotion (positive of course). Try it. It really works.

It's not only about understanding it. You can understand one thing on many levels and it depends on your vibration. It sometimes happens to me that I write down a thought and when I read it again later, it doesn't longer resonate. So you can think that you have understood something, but after a while you understand it differently or find a deeper meaning in it.
Maybe this subliminal stuff can help (I don't know, I don't use it) but you still have to do the work. I try to make LoA as simple as possible for me and that means I work on a high vibration and focus only on what I want. Why has your ex to go crazy about you? She is no longer your ex, remember? I follow the rule: Do what you like and don't do what you don't like. If you enjoy listening to this stuff, do it. If you do it to get her back and don't enjoy it so much, don't do it. Same thing with visualisation, scripting and so on. They are all just tools.

I am going to need some additional help. I have bipolar disorder as well and have been unmedicated for quite some time. This is actually making this entire process a little bit more complicated. I am working on reprogramming my mind. What about my negative ego?
What I am trying to say is, I need more guidance in certain areas. I am having some difficulties with visualizing my new relationship and separating from the old. So how do I stay fully positive and train my mind to be of the warmest nature all the time?

By doing it and not trying to find excuses. We are all fighting with it, it can be hard sometimes. Avoid everything that could make it even harder (negative people, news and so on) and do all the things that make you feel good. The higher your vibration the easier it gets to think the right thoughts. Take you time. Don't beat yourself up, if your mind is controlling you and not the other way around. Maybe it's stronger than you for now, but if you are persistent, it will finally give in.
