When Good Things Happen and You're Scared To Get Your Hopes Up

Let's say that something small yet wonderful and unexpected has happened. It excites you. But you don't want to think about it or imagine all the great things that could happen next because you're scared of getting your hopes up and being disappointed again. How would you handle this?

Re: When Good Things Happen and You're Scared To Get Your Hopes Up

Yeah I have this rule where I don't let myself get excited about anything that much until it is literally set in stone or happening. Like if something happens and I get a bit too excited, I absolutely hate the crash when it doesn't work out the way I thought so now I just let it happen while smiling a little but distract myself with other things, so I don't think about it too much, I usually go out with friends and talk about other fun and exciting things but not about what's going on. I really do believe in 'jinxing' so I only share news that has happened or is happening. Like if you get called for a job interview, I wouldn't tell my friends or anyone really and even if it goes well, I keep it to myself and feel myseld inwardly feel quite confident but I still force myself not to think about it and then when I'm told I have the job I tell the whole world haha So if something is happening, don't share it, positively expect, write down what you want from it maybe, give yourself evidence that it's all going to work out, allow yourself to feel more confident than usual in your every day life, feel powerful, in control, if you start to panic, worry, get too excited, calm down, watch something on tv and give that your full attention, but this is how it all starts ok :3 meditate if you're getting anxious too. I love when things start happening :3Β
