I can't remember if I posted this or not, but if I didn't ---

Lorna Jane Raw Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • FOR EACH LAYER OF THE CHOCOLATE CAKE
  • 25 fresh Medjool dates, pitted

  •  1/8 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tbsp rice malt syrup
  • 1/3 cup raw cacao powder
  • contents of 2 Chai teabags
  • 1/4 tsp Himalayan sea salt

  • 1 and 1/4 cup raw walnuts
  • FOR THE GANACHE:
  • 1 cup rice malt syrup
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • FOR THE DATE CARAMEL:
  • 7 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/3 cup (preferably warm) filtered water

  • 0.5 tbsp raw mesquite powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Walnuts, buckinis, pumpkin seeds and cacao nibs, to decorate

How to make it:

  • FOR THE CAKE:
  • Use a food processor to blend the walnuts into a meal before adding the cacao powder, tea and sea salt. Blend again, then add the dates. When a crumb- like consistency forms, add the syrup and coconut oil before blending well one last time. Press the mixture into a lined cake tin, smooth the surface with the back of a spoon and freeze for at least 15 minutes.
  • Repeat with each layer of cake.
  • While the "chocolate cakes" are chilling, make the ganache and date caramel.
  • FOR THE GANACHE:
  • Combine all ingredients in a food processor, and blend until smooth.
  • FOR THE DATE CARAMEL:
  • Soak the dates in water for at least an hour, then blend all of the ingredients together (including the soaking liquid) to form a smooth caramel.
  • To assemble:
Leave one layer of chocolate cake in its tin, then spoon a layer of caramel over it, followed by a layer of chopped walnuts and three- quarters of the ganache. Remove the second layer of cake from its tin and carefully lower it over the ganache layer. Pour over the remaining ganache and decorate as desired. Refrigerate overnight before serving.

Well, I've lost over 2kg (4.4 lbs).

Still a long way to go to this, though:

When I'm closer to that ^ I will update. I'll be pairing it off with this makeup ;)

And the idea that we attract absolutely everything in our experience - that we control our reality 100% - is equally liberating as it is disempowering. After all, it would be disheartening if a father told his kid "Son, you create your reality, so you manifested terrorism overseas."

Yes, the blaming the victim thing is something that's always bothered me in literal interpretations of LOA.

I've been slacking so terribly at all challenges here! I'm one kilogram lighter than my current maximum weight, but still a way to go...

Just wanted to put up a fantastic recipe I found a while back, that I've only made once (due to lack of a proper food processor), but it is - so - wonderfully - scrumptiously - mouthwateringly delicious:

Great post Berryluv! Reminds me of Steve Jobs: You can't connect the dots looking forward you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path.

And Cherished, what a great story! Testimony to the power of sending love, too. ;)

What a great thread I don't know, personally I would do both, with an emphasis on accepting the person/situation the way things currently stand. As far as LOA goes of course any Goddardian will tell you that what we should be doing is focusing on the final result - which has different interpretations, but to me the idea of feeling as if makes the most sense. So if you can accept what the situation is right now while tuning into feelings of excitement, bliss, happiness, or even just contentment -- and indeed, appreciation -- then that should be powerful in setting you on the right life path.

Nonetheless, especially if it's a situation rather than a person, I think it's important to focus on the goal... without "resting on your laurels", that is. I believe in hard work and so-called "inspired action". Intuition is something I'm trying to develop more and more at the moment...

Great posts, Colonel Roosevelt. ;)

Mugginess, I'd just like to add that I think you should never doubt that you are on the right path. Because if you believe everything good is coming to you, it is. There may be setbacks, there may be changes, one day you may feel excited, the other day you may not, you may decide he isn't really for you, you may set the intention of having him again and then forget him and live your life --- whatever you do, you can't go wrong. There is never one right answer to happiness, never one route only.

Every LOA guide I've ever read - including some things by people who are simply spiritual - tells you that once you can be okay without your desires (whether those desires are "current focuses" or intentions you set a long time ago), you are in the perfect place for them to come to you.

What I would do would just to keep nurturing your own happiness. I don't believe you have to focus on the ex; just work on being your best self and enjoying life as I'm sure you are...  reach greater and greater heights in your personal life in other areas...   and you can't go wrong. The universe will take care of everything else.

Your happiness, after all, is more important than any relationship.

Worth checking out: "The Most Dangerous Word in the World"

LOL That reminds me of when I had to write an essay for my American history class and my teacher put question marks all over my paper and put "NO" in big bold letters within a circle at the top. I thought it was hilarious lol.

That reminds me of my friend's high school essay on Jane Eyre, back when we were maybe 13-14. My friend wrote that Jane Eyre's reaction to Rochester was a cool one, i.e. that she reacted coolly, and the teacher put a big red circle around the word "cool" and a question mark and exclamation mark.
Whereas my friend was so sober she pretty much never even used the informal version of "cool" those days...lol.

Though...what on earth did you write in that paper to get a question mark next to everything? That there were Vikings at the Boston Tea Party? ;)

I used to be mentally lazy, but that all changed when a friend, who is a very successful entrepreneur, told me that unless I make a commitment to have the discipline that's required to deliberately create my ideal life, I will never create my ideal life. This means I will not have the outcomes that I want.

So my questions to you are: how committed are you in changing your situation? What necessary steps will you take to achieve your desired situation? What activities do you do on a daily basis that help you achieve your desired situation?

Thank you for this! I needed this little kick for motivation in my work. Great post Vera!

Before I thought "resistance" was more of a wall not letting things enter (and it certainly is), but it's also a wall not letting things OUT.

Yes of course! What a wonderful insight. With love, as with friendship, smiles, kittens, money, and other things...more you give it away, the more it comes back. ;)

Actually there is a provocative quote by J. Krishnamurti:

"You want to be loved because you do not love; but the moment you love, it is finished, you are no longer inquiring whether or not somebody loves you."

To freely give love is to never run out of love; when we demand love that tends to be out of some inner place of lack, fear, sorrow.
